By now, everyone in the country has been affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many personally know a family in which someone has served. Some know one of the families of the 6,596 Killed In Action (KIA) and families of the 49,746 Wounded In Action (WIA) – Figures, Department of Defense 9.11.12
All of these families as well as the families of the 343 FDNY, 23 NYPD and 38 PAPD lost on 9/11 (which includes Sirius, the 4-yr old Explosive Detection K-9 yellow lab who died in Tower 1) deserve our heartfelt support. The surviving family members, as well as the current members of FDNY, NYPD, PAPD and all service branches of the armed forces , and all of their family members, are in need of continuing psychological support and services.
For this reason we are asking that you give generously to enable TRR to provide these very necessary, and in some instances, life saving programs.
